About the Role

An opportunity exists for a full time Specialist General Surgeon to join the General Surgery team at Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty.  This position is based at Whakatāne Hospital with a commitment to supporting services across the Bay of Plenty.

Whakatāne Hospital provides comprehensive acute and planned (elective) surgical services to the Bay of Plenty population. You will work within a team of four General Surgeons, supported by a Surgical MOSS and two Surgical Registrars, including a SET Registrar, in a collegial and well-supported regional service.

About You

We are looking for a specialist who would like an opportunity to work with the team, as a generalist and within their subspecialty, while also providing acute and planned care services, teaching, mentoring junior teams, as well as undertaking administrative responsibilities. A special interest in breast and thyroid surgery is desirable as is competency in endoscopy.  This position includes participating equally in the after-hours roster.
