Hospitals seeking accreditation for General Surgery training posts must apply through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), with accreditation administered in Aotearoa New Zealand by NZAGS.
Accreditation applies to both:
- New hospitals seeking approval for SET General Surgery training, and
- Existing hospitals requesting accreditation for additional training posts.
How to Apply
Applications for hospital or post accreditation must be submitted using the RACS website.
https://www.surgeons.org/trainees/training-post-accreditation
Please note that while accreditation fees are approved by RACS, the fees charged by NZAGS in New Zealand are lower than those published on the RACS website.
Requests for new accreditations—either for a hospital or individual posts—must be submitted to NZAGS by 31 January of the year in which the post is required.
For example, if a training post is intended to commence in December of a given year, the completed application must be received by 31 January of that same year.
