Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role
We are looking for an applicant who has either completed their general surgical training or will complete their training in 2024 to achieve FRACS. The fellowship will allow the successful applicant to gain further experience as an independent specialist. Teaching and supervision of Resident Medical Officers (RMO) is an important part of the role.
The fellow will be expected to do consultant on-call backed up by another Senior Medical Officer (SMO).
Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team
Capital Coast provides UGI/HPB tertiary services to both Wellington and central regional patients. Our Service has four UGI/HPB surgeons with a fifth expected to start in July 2025, clinical nurse specialists, and an RMO team. We manage patients with benign and malignant disease. Our work is driven by faster cancer treatment timeframes. The fellow will work independently to support work in the operating theatre, and clinic setting. Participation in the department Audit programme is a requirement. The wider general surgical department covers all the general surgery sub-specialities.
The fellow will obtain training in upper GI and HPB depending on their preference and will provide a service commitment to the unit.
